“It’s definitely tough to go from top performer to being at the bottom of the pile again,” said Jok. “I worked hard at Dawson to establish myself and that resulted in me receiving the Minot State scholarship. But that’s just the beginning. Now I must establish myself here, with my teammates and more importantly, the coaching staff.”

In this interview Buay Jok details his early life in Sudan and his growth, development and aspirations in Australia.

His philosophy on life of “Be uncomfortable on a daily basis” and his strong belief in himself and God demonstrates his attitude to life and sport.

 

Elijah Doul

At 6’7”, Elijah is the new prototype point guard. Handles, elite passing, speed, elevation and prodigious scoring capacity makes him a real handful for opposition guards.

 It’s a scenario he has exploited to the benefit of his team many times.

Elijah is now a NBL1 Development player for the Dandenong Rangers

Teny Puot

LEADING THE WAY

Melbourne’s Teny Puot visibly supported the improvement of the South Sudanese National basketball in the recent round of 2023 World Cup Qualifiers.

Selected to don his familiar no. 0 jersey in pursuit of a 2023 World Cup berth, Puot unfortunately injured his elbow in the lead up.

Settling in to life in D2 after transferring from JUCO is exactly the challenging experience Michael Jok anticipated.Any notion that his on-court success, exposure to leadership, or scholarship offer would create a soft landing were blown out playing limited minutes in the first games of the new season. “It’s definitely tough to go from top performer to being at the bottom of the pile again,” said Jok. “I worked hard at Dawson to establish myself and that resulted in me receiving the Minot State scholarship. Red Roo’s Yout Gai (YG) continues to make progress as he enters his Senior year at Abilene Christian University. The South Plains College transfer has seen a increase in his avg minutes and continues to grind and work to win more court time and opportunity.
 
“Nothing is guaranteed anyone, at any level in life, other than the opportunity to excel, and that is what YG has at Abilene Christian,”remarked James Kerr, President of Red Roo Sport. “YG has, through his work, earned the respect of his teammates, the coaching staff, and everyone else connected to the program and the school. There is no greater achievement”, continues Mr. Kerr. 

Josh Duach

If hard work is a talent, then Red Roo Sports most recent NCAA Basketball Scholarship recipient, Josh Duach, has it in bucketfuls.

While certainly gifted with athleticism and basketball skills, his work ethic and workload have taken him to New York City for a full-ride NCAA Division 1 Athletic Scholarship at Iona College under Hall of Fame Coach, Rick Pitino.

Daniel Piech-Meat

RedRoo’s Daniel Piech-Meat has endured the challenges of COVID to take up a Basketball scholarship in Texas, departing August 15, 2021.
 
Heading to Midland College in West Texas, Daniel cites his faith and family as major influencers in his achievement. “They kept believing in me”, explains the Freshman of his large family. “Because of COVID I kind of gave up a little bit. I wasn’t playing basketball. But I kept my family around, kept going to church, kept praying. This helped me a lot. My mum, dad, brothers and sisters. All of them.”

LIEB Yat

Congratulation to Lieb. His recent commitment to play for the University Of Southern Mississippi at the division one level is

another positive step in his pursuit of  higher education. The Golden Eagles are extremely focused on qualifying for the NCAA March

Madness tournament in March of 2024. We wish the team nothing but the best for the 2023-2024 season. Well done Lieb Yat!

Chris is an excitement machine. Able to use his athleticism on both ends of the court, Chris has the capacity to take over games through his offensive or defensive efforts. As a committed team player, he will use his high basketball IQ to lift his team and capitalise on the opportunities his court vision detects. The values he places on Education is driving him to make the most from his basketball career.

An incredibly dynamic, and exciting, young prospect, Justin has the world at his feet. A tough competitor with lights out perimeter shooting who will also do the interior work on the boards. Able to dominate and take games away from opponents, this young man is going somewhere, given the right support and opportunities.

SOLOMON KUOL

Red Roo star, Solomon ‘Solo’ Kuol, has headed to Hill College in Hillsboro, Tx, to accept his scholarship offer.

 The 6’7” wing was a hot item on April’s AAU’s Australia Elite USA College tour gathering serious interest from D1 programs. 

With his length, shooting range and defensive capabilities, he made himself irresistible to the Texas Juco.

Monybuony Kor (Mony) is a 189lbs 6”7 forward who is a 2 way threat with a competitive mindset. Mony is working hard and determined to reach his goal at playing at the division 1 level in the United States. His recent accomplishments include:
